OptionsHouse review OptionsHouse is one of the cheapest brokerage firms offering flat-rate commissions: only $3.95 per trade on stocks and $9.95 per mutual fund transaction. There is an annoying surcharge on stocks under $2 though. And we have no clue why extended hours trading is shorter than at most other online brokers: 8:30 am - 9:30 am and 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm EST. Minimum to open account is $1,000 for cash account, $2,000 for margin account.

Beginners could trade in demo mode which is a great way to learn: you can play around and see what investing/trading style fits you the best without putting real money at risk. Free streaming quotes and check writing are nice too.

OptionsHouse is widely considered to be one of the best brokers for options traders. But now the company is very growing rapidly and most of the growth is coming from mutual fund, ETF and stock investors. OptionsHouse is actually one of our favorite online brokers in 2012.
