Tip 11. Cut the cable cord - Tips In Saving Money

Tips in saving money: switch to basic cable or cut cable completely.

Over the years I saved thousands of dollars by not having cable TV. But, even more importantly, the time not wasted watching TV could be priceless. There are so many great things one can do in life! There are friends and family, traveling, hobbies, new people to meet, old connections to restore, new things to learn!

I'm not someone who abhors the idea of having TV in the house. I love Family Guy and Charlie Rose show. I occasionally watch good movies. But the time I spend it front of TV now is a fraction of what it used to be. And my life is so much richer and fulfilling now!

I was staying in my friends house once and she had a great cable package with some pretty good shows. I ended up watching more TV than I did in years. It came with a price of not fully taking advantage and exploring the new neighborhood I was staying in and not learning a bunch of new things.

The reality is, that the less choice of channels you have, the less you’ll be watching. Just going through 100 or more channels would take a lot of time. And with so much choice, you are likely to find something EVERY TIME, that will seduce you into wasting a few more hours of your life in front of a tube. Because of that, switching to basic cable with limited number of channels or removing cable service completely is CRUCIAL! This is a necessary first step to drop TV-addiction and I can't emphasize it enough.

Have you noticed how much faster each new year flies? And it’s not going to get any better. Life is too short to squander it in front of the tube! Cut the cable cord!
