Tip 2. Library = huge savings - Money Saving Tips And Secrets

Go to library for movies, magazines and books.


I have friends who don’t make a lot of money, struggling to save, live with roommates, yet they spend hundreds upon hundreds of dollars every year renting or buying movies, magazines, books and CDs. "Why?" I ask them. "Because I like it" is the usual reply.

Of course if there are books that you enjoy re-reading over again or a favorite artist that you love to listen, it's only natural buying this stuff. I do it too. But lets make an experiment: go to your book/DVD/CD shelf and count how many books or DVDs from your collection have you watched in the last month? Last 3 months? Last year? Our lives are so busy now, there is so much going on and so many new things are coming out, we hardly ever get to revisit what we already saw or read.

Library now has an extensive catalog of movies, CDs, books, magazines and audio-books which you could get for free. You could find them easily in library's online catalog on the internet and order right there, from the comfort of your home. You'll get an email from the libary when items are ready for pickup. Yes, you'll have to wait to get them, but it's worth it.

If you find that you absolutely love something you got at the library, then sure - buy it!

With some exceptions who has time anymore to re-read books or watch the same movie over and over again? Stop buying dust-collectors and save hundreds each year!

Janet I also have friends like you described. One in particular just moved and had to throw out all her books and videos. What a waste!
Arthut Janet, I agree - it's a waste. She should have put her stuff on Craigslist, though with economy so bad it might be challenging to sell it at even fraction of cost.
