Frugal family: extended warranties are not worth the money.


When you are buying new gadget or appliance, stores will often try to push extended warranty to protect you in case item fails. Generally, they are not worth the money. If an item is going to fail, research tells us it will do so during the manufacturer’s warranty period or long after the extended warranty has expired.

If you do your research and buy only high quality merchandise, gadgets or appliances shouldn't fail anyway and you will be much more happy with purchase. More on how to pick high quality items is here.
