The days of paying $20 in stock broker commissions for a trade are over! I see no good reason to pay over $10 per trade now. In fact, many very good discount brokerage firms charge much less. Below are examples of well established, high rated companies with very low fees.

TradeKing charges just $4.95 per trade for stocks over $1. With excellent customer service and trading tools, it has been rated #1 Discount Stock Broker in 2006 and 2007.

Zecco offers 10 free trades each month with $25,000 balance requirement or if you make at least 25 trades per month. It charges only $4.50 per trade if you don't meet $25,000 balance requirement or 25 trades minimum per month.

OptionsHouse charges just $2.95 flat rate per trade. It has no minimum or volume requirements. Barron's magazine gave OptionsHouse.com 4.5 stars (out of 5) in 2009 online stock broker survey and named them #1 in "Trade Experience".
