Tip 21. Buy prescription medicines - Frugal Is Fabulous Tips And Ideas

...or over-the-counter medicines - whichever is cheaper.

With some health insurance plans it's cheaper to buy prescription medicines then over-the-counter counterparts. If this is the case with you, go for it! Just take into consideration co-payment too. Claritin D, for example, costs $25 but prescription drug cost me only $5 plus $10 for one time co-payment to see a doctor. Over the 3 months it adds up to $50 in savings.

If prescription medicines cost a lot for you, consider over-the-counter drugs. Check that they the same ingredients and you might want to consult with doctor too.
