Tip 3. Spike your credit score - Zero Debt Secrets and Tips

Increase your credit score before applying for a new card.


A month before applying for a new credit card, you could use money you saved (because you read Tip 1 and my savings tips) to pay off some credit card debt. You must try to get your balances to below 50% of available credit line on EACH account. After this done, try to reduce the number of credit cards with balances (but don't cancel them).
This should boost your credit score and in about a month you should be able to get a better credit card then you would get otherwise.

Check your credit score before trying this to make sure it's not bad. You could get a free credit report one time a year from EACH of three major credit agencies here. I see no need getting credit report from all 3 credit agencies at the same time. I recommend getting credit report 3 times a year from one credit agency at a time.
